Working predominantly in stone, I enjoy the challenge of using a material and process that is often seen as anachronistic, in a way that is still relevant and apposite.
My work is concerned with certain fundamental psychological themes, such as passion, eroticism and pathos. There is often a level of humour present, either formal or verbal, which belies a deeper meaning.
My interest in geometry, and a desire to better my understanding of stone working techniques, has led me to employment as a cathedral mason. I have become increasingly obsessed with this field in its own right, while at the same time incorporating masonry aspects into my sculpture.
